We launched
SURFBOARDS CALIFORNIA in 1995 to offer the very finest in quality
and design of classically inspired single fin surfboards. Over
the years we have tested and refined a few of our most popular
models to reflect the golden era of surfboard development in
the 1960's. Here now is our lineup for 2010 of classic and
retro designed boards.

The
Classic
Nothing shows
the beauty of the classic curves of this all time favorite
as three redwood stringers and a wood tail block.
This relaxed
rocker, soft-railed smooth rider was inspired by the some of
the early team models when Hobie and Gordon and Smith had the
hottest, most versatile surfers cruising Southern California
on their own models.
We start
with a very curvy, slightly pulled template and pinch the rails
just to get a little more speed and bite.
This model
also available in Volan glass.
A light tint
will enhance the looks without covering up its natural beauty.

The
Noserider
We pulled
the hips way back on this board to make for a more pivot style
of turning. The slightly narrow nose allows for less swing
weight up front but still enough platform to rest all ten toes.
There is a long flowing concave that breaks into a smooth rounded
Vee bottom to enhance the fluid turning from the tail. In the
mid sixties, noseriders were the board of choice in the beach
breaks, and this one borrows heavily from some of the best
like Bing and Jacobs.
Add some
fantastic resin color to this trippie model.
Also available
in Volan glass.

The
Mini's
We offer
both the Classic Three Stringer and the Noserider (shown here)
in under 9 foot lengths for the smaller surfer, or for those
who just want a quick, fun beach break board.

The
Egg
As the longboard
started to decline in popularity at the end of the 60's, boards
became drastically shorter very quickly. The Egg model was
the first of these new shorter designs. We have gone back and
found this little nugget to be a great addition to any quiver.
It has a full rounded template to get you into the wave and
a large singe fin for power drives. We kept the bottom flat
with just a touch of roll under the nose. Soft pinched rails
help hold this board to the face of the wave without spinning
out.
Sixties style
tints and resin pigments make this a real eye catcher.
In Lengths
from 6'2" to 7'6"

The
Fish
The Fish
was developed right here in San Diego as an off-shoot of the
kneeboards being ridden at Sunset Cliffs at the time of the
transition period of surfboard development.
Our fish
go back to those early designs with soft pinched rails, full
volume templates and large fish tails. Our Fish all come with
hand-made wooden glass-on fins, just like the originals.
Resin tints
and pigments add a touch of class to these little fliers.
